Welcome to the second edition of the Saferoom eNewsletter!!
This eNewsletter will be mailed out on the 15th of every month, with pertinent information about Saferoom, its affiliated resources, related forums, and events. If you would like to include an announcement in a the eNewsletter, please send it to copper_beech by the 8th of each month. To read the HTML version of this eNewsletter, go to The Saferoom Project eNewsletter.
We would like to take time to say thank you to all the members, for making SR a wonderfully supportive forum. Every member is requested to submit a first name, viable email address, gender, and any short biographical info that you feel we should know to the club founders at saferoom98, or by writing to a specific founder (mrs, gari, copper_beech). This information is required for security of our club, and because Yahoo is often faulty at best in keeping us in contact with each other. Only founders see this information--it is not shared with forum members. Members who do not submit this information will be deleted approximately two weeks after joining.
Introducing... The Saferoom Project....
After a lot of hard work and organization, the founders of SR would like to introduce you to The Saferoom Project, a network of chat rooms, forums, post boards, web ring, and a mailing list. This network was created to reach a more diverse group of survivors, giving greater access to support forums online. Many thanks to the members who have supported SR for over a year now, and to the new members who keep it going! We could not have built this network without you!! The Saferoom Project roll call includes:
| Saferoom at Yahoo, the main SR forum, | This forum is the original post board and chat area for Saferoom. Please feel free to add photos and informative links there, as well as peruse the calendar for scheduled chats. |
| Saferoom at Delphi, | This forum at delphi is an alternate location for chats. This room is predominantly for use for webtv people who can not access the Yahoo java-based chats, and for when Yahoo is being temperamental. It is available to any *current* member of Saferoom at Yahoo. Chat hosts needed. |

New Addition to The Saferoom Project...
After a year of growth, we have decided to create a private Saferoom at Yahoo. (SafeProject) We have thought of creating a private forum several times in the past, but have not been able to make it a reality until now. This new forum will be called The Saferoom Project, and it will be closed to the general public. This means that it will be an invitation-only forum. In order to receive an invitation to this forum, you will be required to submit a NON-WEB-BASED email address. That is, you must submit a *real* email address, not a Yahoo, Hotmail, or other free web-based email address. We have decided to require this prerequisite as this private forum is being created solely to ensure security. By having a IP email address on every member, we know *exactly* how to track someone if necessary. It is no secret that it is often difficult to tell who is who on the Internet, and that can sometimes create problems in a forum of a very personal nature. NO ONE is required to join this club, and the original public Yahoo club will remain open and viable. However a private general forum for SR has been requested by many members, mainly so that the general public can not access the post board. We are responding to that request with this private forum. As with the original SR, members will not see these email addressesthey will be accessed only by founders. If there are any discrepancies regarding this new forum, please direct them to a founder.
Coming Soon from Saferoom.org...
In a few days, we will be able to give everyone the opportunity to shop online through The Saferoom Project. We have been long time in association with Amazon.com, offering online shopping through our web site, with a percentage of what is sold through that site going to the maintenance of The SR Project. SR founders have been paying maintenance fees for keeping this site and web ring hosted, and members can now contribute to this fund by doing their online shopping through our web page. We also offer shopping through eToys.com and Drugstore.com . For part of your payment to be donated to the The SR Project fund, click on the links provided on our web page, to any of these online stores. Please keep checking back to our page for this opportunity! :)
We would also like to make everyone aware that SR at Excite will also be available soon. We will keep you posted on its progress.
| Upcoming Chats... We would like to remind everyone to check the calendars at each chat site, in order to keep up with scheduled chats... Many members live in different times zones, and are interested in having chats at various times. If you are interested in hosting a chat at a specific time, please contact a founder to determine scheduling for it. |
Yahoo Goofs... Just a reminder that the Yahoo room has not been showing when members are in chat on the front page. If you are interested in chatting but think no one is there, enter it just to be sure... |
What our members are doing...
All of the following information has been included at the request of the forum owners, who are members of Saferoom. If you have a forum that you would like to have announced in the Saferoom eNewsletter, please send the information that you would like included to copper_beech@yahoo.com. We ask that you NOT use the Saferoom post boards or mailing list to announce other forums. Thank you
