Please read the following instructions before registering for the Private Members' Area and access to the private forums.

Requirements for Registration
The only personal requirement to join a Project forum is that you ARE a survivor, or partner, depending on the forum nature. Technical requirements are that you use one of the following browsers to view our forums:

  • IE 6.x or higher
  • Netscape 7.x or higher
Other browsers and versions are not supported; thus, if your browser is other than what is listed, you will not be able to use our private forums.

Registration requirements include complying with Project guidelines. Registering to use the forums is a two-step process. You must register first for the use of Project forums, which gives you access to the Private Members' Area. We verify every registration manually, so when you register for the Members' Area, please include your former SR name if you were a member of a public forum, submit a real and active email address, and indicate if you are a survivor or partner. If you submit an incorrect email, an address that you don't use, or a false email, you will not be approved to the Members' Area.

Your registration to the Members' Area is not automatic. You will receive an email confirming your request for admission to this area, but it may take a couple of days for us to verify the request. You will be informed via email when you have been added to the Private Members' Area.

The next step in registration is to login to the Private Members' Area, click the Saferoom Forums link to the left. At the forums window, the Registration link is at the top right. Registration to the forums gives you automatic access. You can begin using the forums immediately.

Some forums are specifically for survivors, for males, or for partners, family and friends of survivors. The membership specifications for each forum are noted below. We ask that ONLY survivors join the forums that are designated for survivors, and that supporters of survivors ONLY join those forums. We will inquire into violations of forum specifications, and remove members who violate that level of privacy for each other. Each perspective on the healing path deserves to have its own space and culture, and we fully support all paths within The Project.

The forums are divided up by membership (Main Forums), interest (Emote Away), and administrative (On the Agenda). We currently host the following forums:

Main Forums Emote Away
All Survivors
For all survivors...
Health and Happiness
For the mind/body discussion of the various physical and mental issues that come along with being a survivor.
G~L~B~T~P
Gay, lesbian, bi, trans, poly, and alternative relationships make up this forum. Please respect each other's privacy and keep the membership and discussions of this board ontopic.
Rage Stage
Feel an attack of drama queen? Here's your audience.
Male Survivors
For men to discuss issues pertaining to survival.
Relationships and Sex
For discussion of how childhood abuse affects our relationships and sexual interactions as adults.
Partners, Family & Friends
For supporters of survivors.
Spiritual Survival
This forum focuses on the spiritual aspects of healing. May include religion for some, it doesn't mean that it does for all.
On the Agenda
saferoom.org Issues
Please read the SRP guidelines. Post questions or suggestions for the website, web ring, lists, forums or chat here. If you have errors, post the exact code.

Please be aware that The Project advocates use of Netiquette in all its forums. And if you aren't familiar with the standard Internet jargon, read an article on Internet Acronyms that one of our members wrote.

You can join The Saferoom Project's private forums by registering with the SRP Registration Form. The process for successful registration is as follows:

  • Go to the SRP Registration Form
  • Register for an account with SR.org (Private Members' Area)
  • Include a WORKING email address, your SR username, and if you are a survivor/partner in the Notes field
  • Submit your registration
  • Check your email for confirmation (if your email address was incorrector not legit, you don't get a confirmation, you don't get activated). Activation may take a day or so as we do it manually.
  • Once you have been activated, log in to the Member's Area.
  • When you login to the Members' Area, you can register for the forums by clicking the link to the left in Members' Area. This link takes you to the forums main area, at which point you can read the forums but not post in them. To become a forums member, and be able to post, at the forums main page, click the Register link at the top right.
  • Registration and access to the forums is immediate.

A brief introduction of yourself would be great but not mandatory. Names and email addresses are only seen by forum founders, and are required so that we can get in touch with all members via email. Forum members do not see these names and email addresses . This information is needed for entry to all of the private Saferoom forums.
